Roto’s Top 10 VR Movies

Updated: Oct 12

Netfix VR – a delightful app brought to you by the company that brings you hours and hours of bingeworthy TV. What people may not know, however, is that they have a VR app as well, with a constant carousel of movies that you can sit back and relax in the VR world, and watch away.

We’ve pulled together a list of our top 10 movies that you can, or have previously been able to watch on Netflix VR.

10. Trainspotting

A cult classic movie, now available for your viewing pleasure (although probably not advisable for your children). With a movie such as this, it had to make the list.

9. Black Hawk Down

Coming in with another entry from Ewan McGregor, the film based on a true story. A highly popular movie and one that we think will be very immersive in the world of VR.

8. Jaws

Duuuuuuuun-dun, duuuuuuuun-dun, dun dun dun dun... who can forget the legendary music from this movie? With a headset on providing surround sound, we think this will be a great movie to watch in VR.

7. Blade 2

The first of two entries from Guillermo Del Toro, featuring everyone’s favourite Vampire, Blade 2 is an action movie full of blood, vampire slaying and Wesley Snipes. We think the action sequences in this movie would be great viewing in VR.

6. The Jungle Book

One of Disney’s more recent live action movies, with a star-studded cast, including the likes of Idris Elba, Bill Murray and Lupita Nyong’o, the Jungle Book stays relatively true to the original story that we all know and love, however it’s the updated graphics and CGI that we believe would make this a great movie to watch in VR.

5. Hellboy

Guillermo Del Toro’s second entry in this list, and it’s for none other than the quick-witted big red guy, Hellboy. The attention to detail in this movie, with all of the steampunk nuances will make for great viewing in VR.

4. Zootopia/Zootropolis

One of Disney’s biggest opening movies of last decade, Zootopia (or zootropolis, depending on where you are), is a feel good movie, and would be perfect if there were any little ones that wanted to spend some time in VR.

3. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

The second instalment in Peter Jackson’s highly popular fantasy franchise, the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a great, 3 hour long movie to sink your teeth into. Adding crisp surround sound audio will make this a great VR viewing experience.

2. The Last Jedi

The penultimate movie in the Star Wars Franchise, the Last Jedi benefits being in VR, as you are able to see all of the amazing little details within the movie. The CGI will also enhance your viewing experience

1. Fantasia/Fantasia 2000

Finally, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Some may argue that this is Disney’s best work, with Sorceror Mickey taking centre stage, and making a wonderland out of many different household items (dancing mops and buckets anyone?). For a movie to sit down and chill out to, we think this would be amazing in VR.
